Japanese Woodland Water Garden - The Rocks & Stones
Stone was an intrinsic part of creating the Japanese feel to the design and we used tonnes of it. All carefully sourced, it performs a variety of roles in the garden. Not only does it act as a backdrop to show off the planting, it provides edges and boundaries for the water, where the water run over it, it provides movement and sound in the garden. A rock on its own forms a focal point adding interest and grouped together the stone adds texture and height.
Each stone was carefully placed by skilled hands, the larger rocks and boulders positioned exactly to display certain shapes and angles.
