Japanese Woodland Water Garden - The Planting
Whilst we were very lucky to be working on a site which had numerous mature tress and large specimens of woodland shrubs such as Rhododendrons, we added a large number of plants ourselves in and around the areas we worked on.
The plants were selected for their suitability for the site, their Japanese influence and their ability to provide year round colour and interest.
Around the stones and rocks by the newly dug out spring fed lake we planted water loving plants and wildflowers, complemented by mature Japanese Maples & Acers. Above the rocks by the waterfall specimen Tree Ferns were planted, and shade tolerant Hostas and Ferns dotted in amongst the stones. Along the wooden walkway we planted Iris and wild flowers.
